This time of year, I always seem to have writer’s block. Not because I have nothing to say, I can always talk. Maybe a little too much depending on who you ask. But in terms of talking about getting naked – this time of year, as the temperature drops, and the snow begins to fall, its A LOT harder to get naked in nature. Not going to lie – short of our hot tub in the back yard, I haven’t got naked in the last couple weeks. Winter has a tendency to do that to me. But it also brings up the challenge of how to continue to incorporate nudity into my day-to-day life. This seems easy, but for years, something I have always struggled with. You might be reading this, and are probably naked on your couch, or in a small robe sipping your coffee, and probably thinking “Rookie,” and you wouldn’t be wrong.
I’ve been naked in a lot of places, in front of a lot of people, friends, family, and strangers alike. But seems once I am indoors, and even by myself, getting naked doesn’t seem natural. Yes coffee tastes better when drinking it naked. I sleep naked at least 90% of the time. But beyond that (and the obvious shower and my hot tub example above) – I just haven’t figured out how to bring nudity into my day to day events. The last thing I want to do is force myself to get naked and start to dislike it. Not that I think that will ever be the case, I don’t want to go overboard. I recently bought this really cute “Get Naked” sign that we are going to hang in the bathroom. Might need to stain the wood to get it the right color scheme – but like a string on the finger – I can see this acting as a gentle reminder – that maybe I don’t need to put clothes on after getting ready in the morning.
Getting naked is fun! Some of my favourite memories over the last couple years haven’t included clothes. Whether its skinny dipping with friends at one of our favourite camp sites. Spending an entire 24 hours naked at a hot springs where nudity isn’t actually allowed, or hosting a naked “dinner party.” Then why is being naked at home – so weird to me? I hear stories from friends online, or see posts about people just not putting clothes on for days on end while they’re shuttered at home whether COVID or some other reason. I wish I had the ability to do that. Whether it’s the safety blanket of what happens if Amazon comes to the door – or worried about bacon splatter while cooking – these can all be overcome.
Maybe that’s me just getting in my head, like I always do. Not hard to throw a robe or an apron on, and maybe it’s time to look at the positives of being naked around the house. Dusting and cleaning? Well instantly already more fun – and don’t have to worry about sleeves getting wet while doing the dishes. And laundry, hell, spend enough time naked around the house and I can cut this chore in half! And it’s a start. That is the important thing. I will start by just cleaning the house naked. My weekly clean – and see what comes of it and where it develops. Cooking – something I have always enjoyed – why not shed the clothes. To be honest, bacon grease to a nudist, is like quicksand to a kid. You think it’s going to be a lot worse than it actually is. Every time I’ve been splattered by bacon grease, it’s on the arms. Not going to make a difference between a tank top versus no top.
If you’re reading this on a hemisphere that is also a couple weeks away from winter – I would love to hear how you bring nudity into your day to day without freezing your bits off. And anything I learn as I try to stay warm while trying to strip down, rest assured I will share those out too.
Stay warm, stay awesome, stay naked and Happy December everyone!
